I welcome the grant of €88,650 for flood relief works in two locations in Galway East by the Office of Public Works.
€65,250 has been allocated for channel maintenance works and upgrading of pipework’s at Castlenancy, Gortmadden, Loughrea. There are a number of families who will benefit from this works.
€23,400 has been allocated to construct a new storm water collection system at Rossmore, Woodford.
These two locations have suffered for many years from flooding and after a long campaign the necessary funding has been sanctioned. I want to thank Galway County Council Engineers and the OPW regional office for their ongoing work in finding solutions for these flooded areas.”
Both projects will be carried out by Galway County Council in the coming months.
I continue to engage with Galway County Council and the Office of Public Works in order to get the necessary funding for Galway East to carry out flood alleviation works.
